During the Super Bowl last night, “X-Men: Apocalypse” had its own TV spot and you can watch it in full below:
Setting the clock forward a few years, X-Men: Apocalypse’s story finds our heroes split across the world: the Prof is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto (Michael Fassbender), meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least, that is, until Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) comes a-calling and recruits him…
After the ancient mutant Apocalypse (Oscaar Isaac) reawakens in the 1980s, he grows dissatisfied with where mutants stand in the modern world. He recruits mutants, including Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn), as his Four Horsemen to help him destroy the world in order to build a new one.
Watch the trailer below, alongside the official synopsis. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
Heroic Hollywood are reporting that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender has both extended their “X-Men” contracts beyond “X-Men: Apocalypse”, which was seen to be their last film.
Over the weekend, Channing Tatum finally closed his deal to star as Gambit for FOX. Seems like he isn’t alone. Got a tip over the weekend and the hot rumor is that both Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have reportedly made deals to continue playing Magneto and Professor Xavier in future “X-Men” movies.
Fassbender and McAvoy have previously played Magneto and Professor Xavier in “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”. They will both next be seen in “X-Men: Apocalypse” which currently has three weeks left of filming.
Previously, Fassbender made comments to MTV about the possibility of his return:
“I’m not sure,” he told MTV News. “I presume [Lawrence and Hoult] are talking about contractually. All of us signed on for a three-film deal, so we’ll just wait and see what happens after this.”
Fassbender seemed like he was game to return post “Men: Apocalypse”
“Always interested in moving forward”
The possibilities are exciting. Can we see Magneto and Professor Xavier team up with Deadpool down the line? Maybe an X-Force movie?
The first few official stills from “X-Men: Apocalypse” have been released in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, and have also been posted online. You can check out the still that includes James up in the gallery, and a few additional ones (including a shot of Oscar Isaac as the villain Apocalypse) over on the Empire website.
As expected, James McAvoy showed up in Hall H yesterday during the 20th Century Fox Panel, to discuss not one but two of his upcoming films – “Victor Frankenstein” with Daniel Radcliffe (the official Twitter account @Frankenstein has now been launched along with the hashtag #VictorFrankenstein) and of course, “X-Men: Apocalypse”. The first few images have been added to the gallery, with hopefully plenty more on the way!
